My mom used to make this and I did too. My boys loved it. Ours was a little different. We used just bacon grease and didn’t add bacon to the dish. Now you have me craving it! :)

Oh goodness this was good. I was afraid it was going to be to bland and added some oregano and parsley to it which matched well. A keeper for sure.

We have been making bacon spaghetti for as long as I can remember; also got the recipe from my grandmother who was born in 1902 and now it is comfort food for my own daughter. The difference is that we include diced green pepper with the bacon and onion and we do not bake it. SO awesome and everyone I have given the recipe to insists it is the best thing they have had. My mom cooks the bacon crispy, i prefer it to just cooked.

We grew up with something similar from my grandmother. Only more bacon, and cheddar cheese, layering the spaghetti, sauce and cheese until used up cheese on top and dotted with butter. It’s amazing. Now days I use canned tomatoes with green peppers and spices right in the can. I only make it every few years. But I love it. Even better on following days.

We make something similar that I learned from my FIL. 1 lb. spaghetti 1 lb. bacon fried, I small can tomato paste and 1 15oz. can tomatoes and chillis. A chopped jalapeno if you like it spicier. Sugar, salt and pepper. no onion in this version. Sweeten to taste. You can bake if you like but I just make it stove top.

Mary Bonnie...my grandma felt the same way. Because of the Depression she made her spaghetti with bacon, pasta, onions and tomato soup (no spices whatsoever). I still love it. Being married to an Italian added their version to my recipe box but this oldie is still my favorite. It's simple and fast.

I never knew Spaghetti was made with anything else. I think I was about 12 when I had dinner at a friends house. Noodles and sauce with sausage. I asked what it was, and they said spaghetti. I asked where the bacon was. My parents were from the depression and bacon was cheap. I like it best the next day. Not baked but mixed with the noodles and served. Memories

My family liked this a lot! I almost didn't try it . I did it stovetop without baking. Otherwise I followed the recipe. This is a keeper. It didn't need any other ingredients.

I got a similar recipe from a friend and we call it German spaghetti. Add cheddar cheese and mushrooms. It's awesome!
