- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup butter, cubed
- 1 large egg
- 3/4 cup chopped dates
- 3/4 cup chopped pecans
- 2 cups crisp rice cereal
- Confectioners' sugar
- Combine sugar, butter, egg, dates and pecans in a heavy saucepan; bring to a boil, stirring thoroughly. Cook over medium heat until well blended, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in cereal. Cool. With buttered hands, roll into 1-in. balls; roll in confectioners' sugar.

These are very good chilled. I made approximately 48 small 1 in. balls. No need to butter your hands to make them as they are pretty greasy already. Let them cool before you form them, they do not harden like rice krispies at all but they do hold there form fine. I placed them in cake pan and then threw a couple of handfuls of powdered sugar on top and shook left to right and quickly had them covered easily. They taste yummy!

These are a serious must-have at Christmas time with our family. We really like these. And I make them Christmas Rice Krispies for fun. But I'd also make they for other times of the year.
