- 3 cups quick-cooking oats
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- Additional milk
- Preheat oven to 350°. In a large bowl, combine oats, brown sugar, baking powder, salt and cinnamon. In another bowl, whisk eggs, milk and butter. Stir into oat mixture until blended.
- Spoon into a greased 9-in. square baking pan. Bake 40-45 minutes or until set. Serve warm with milk.

Exactly what I was looking for! Easy prep, DELISH!! Tastes like a warm oatmeal cookie. I added raisins to the top and I used 1/2 the amount of brown sugar. My fav recipe!!

I doubled the recipe but didn't double the sugar (I did a little over 1 C.). I cut up and peeled 2 apples and added that and raisins. Cooked for 45 mins. Added milk when I served it. It's so amazing. I also added a little more cinnamon!

My family loved this! I also reduced the sugar a bit the second time I made this. Now the grandchildren actually ask for the "oatmeal cake" for breakfast. But it's wonderful warm in a bowl with some milk added - delicious!

Agree with Mnbakerandmom, use less sugar! Also use whole grain oats, not the processed, instant kind....much more nutritious and they have a more chewy and/or crispy texture! I doctor mine up with nuts, whey protein powder, and sometimes fruit (altho you can also add these things afterward when you are eating it)

I was searching for a basic baked oatmeal recipe just to have a ratio for liquid to wet ingredients but with plans to doctor it up. This recipe worked great, and as I only wanted it as a base, I cut back on the sugar a lot. Maybe 1/4-1/3 cup is what I used. If I hadn't further doctored up the oatmeal it would have been kind of bland. However, I still think the recipe is solid that way as half the fun of baked oatmeal is the doctoring you do when you eat it - add milk, fresh fruit, some type of syrup, dried fruit, nuts, on and on with the options. For doing that this is a great recipe as is. I really like the texture but I'd still cut back on the sugar in that case.For my purposes this time around I added a middle layer of prune puree I had leftover from another recipe in the middle and also sprinkled walnuts over that. This added the sweetness to eat the oatmeal on it's own.Wow, did my house smell delicious while and after it was baking!I added cardamom spice along with cinnamon, a few tablespoons of chia seeds and flax seed meal to the dry mixture.Made it in a 11x7 pan, and also used 4 tbsps butter and 1/4 cup coconut oil instead of 1/2 cup butter.Makes plenty so we'll be eating this for a few days. Awesome!

This was very delicious, but like others have said, a bit too sweet. I like the other suggestions of reducing the sugar and adding banana. I'll try that next time.

Add finely chopped walnuts and it becomes as familiar as a box of Grapenuts, but sweeter and more delicious. I love making this on a Sunday night knowing That I have breakfast all week. Superb!

The recipe tastes great the way it is, but it does taste like an oatmeal cookie; it is a little too sweet for breakfast on a regular basisAs an alternative, I added 1 1/2 mashed bananas, reduce the sugar to 1/4 to 1/3 cup brown sugar to replace the 1 cup of sugar, reduced the butter to 1/4 cup, and 2 teaspoons of cinnamon instead of 1 teaspoon.

Great recipe . However, I reduced the sugar to 1/2 cup and added 1 sliced banana. I also doubled the amount of cinnamon.
